Location. The Fairmont Hamilton Princess (Bermuda), sister hotel to The Plaza Hotel in New York City, The Fairmont Banff Springs in Alberta and The Fairmont San Francisco, opened its doors amidst hibiscus bushes and a natural harbor in 1885. The resort stands three blocks from Hamilton City Center. Complimentary ferry service is available to the Fairmont Southampton Hotel's golf, beach, spa and tennis facilities.
Hotel Features. Harbor side alfresco dining is featured at Harley's Restaurant and Terrace, where prime aged beef and breakfast buffets are available. Afternoon tea is served at Heritage Court, while unique butler service is available for candlelight dinners on guestroom terraces. The Fitness Center offers one outdoor freshwater pool and one outdoor saltwater pool, fitness equipment and two saunas. The adjoining Inverurie Day Spa showcases such indulgences as the Sun Lover Facial, an oxygenating treatment that uses handmade stone crop masques and licorice serum to tone and heal sun damaged skin. The Bed of Roses Facial melds hand crushed petals from two dozen Bulgarian roses, rosehips and carrot vitamin treatments to exfoliate, treat and balance.
Guestrooms. Victorian heritage style rooms display harbor, city or garden views from private balconies. Nineteenth century mahogany furnishings boast polished brass hardware, gilt mirrors and Bermudian artwork. Gracious amenities include bathrobes and marble bathrooms. Desks, complimentary newspapers and high speed Internet access are available.
Expert Tip. Locals call this historic hotel "The Pink Palace," ever since Princess Louise, the fourth daughter of Queen Victoria visited the island in 1883. The hotel was named The Fairmont Hamilton Princess in honor of her royal visit. In 1939, the resort served as a base to Allied servicemen during World War II, with the basement transformed into an intelligence center and weigh station for all mail, radio and telegraphic traffic headed for Europe, the United States and the Far East.
