The Grand Hotel Bristol is housed in a neo classical building with landscaped grounds and situated on the shores of Lake Maggiore in the Italian town of Stresa, one kilometre from the botanical gardens and zoo. The 253 guestrooms are spread over six floors and have traditional style decor and furnishings and co ordinated patterned fabrics. All guestrooms have satellite television, high speed wireless Internet, direct dial phones, minibars, safes, climate control, and bathrooms with hair dryers, toiletries and telephones.
Guests can work out in the gym, and then relax in the sauna or jetted tub, or take a swim in the indoor or outdoor pool. The public areas are lavishly decorated with mahogany furniture, crystal chandeliers and tapestries and offer high speed wireless Internet for a surcharge. Restaurant Stresa serves an a la carte menu of Italian and international dishes and a large wine selection and offers views over Lake Maggiore and Borromeo Island. The Winter Garden also features marvellous views across the lake while the Restaurant Baveno is an intimate restaurant ideal for candle lit dinners and private events. Room service is available between certain hours. There is a business centre, and guests benefit from concierge services, and dry cleaning and laundry services. Parking is available in the hotel's underground garage for a fee. Visitors can travel to the Umbrella Museum, seven kilometres away, or the hiking and skiing area of Mottarone, 15 kilometres away. Milan Malpensa Airport is 45 kilometres from the hotel, with an approximate driving time of 45 minutes.
